Minister Velislava Petrova Attends the Traditional Military Parade Marking France’s National Day

Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova attended the traditional military parade marking France’s National Day. A ceremonial unit from the Bulgarian National Guard Unit also took part in the parade. Minister Petrova was a member of the official Bulgarian delegation, led by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, which attended the event at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
This year’s theme, “Europe’s Strategic Awakening”, reflects the changing security environment on the continent following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
The military parade, held this year at Place de la Concorde, featured approximately 6686 service personnel, together with 299 military vehicles and 193 horses. The aerial display included 98 military aircraft, among them eight from allied countries, as well as 32 helicopters and around 60 drones.
In addition to Bulgaria, the parade’s marching contingent included service personnel from the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, Austria, Canada and Australia. The ceremony also featured the participation of 25 Ukrainian service personnel.
