As part of the Europe Day celebrations organised by the Delegation of the European Union in Pretoria, the Bulgarian Embassy actively participated with its own stand showcasing traditional Bulgarian dishes and products from the country’s food industry.
Numerous guests were welcomed with homemade Bulgarian bread and a selection of Bulgarian delicacies, including banitsa, grilled specialities, moussaka, sheep’s cheese and kashkaval (yellow cheese). Traditional Bulgarian walnut cookies, known as orehovki, attracted particular interest and received widespread praise, becoming one of the culinary highlights of the evening.
The Bulgarian stand was among the most visited at the event, offering guests an opportunity to discover Bulgaria’s rich culinary traditions and renowned hospitality. All Embassy staff, locally employed personnel and members of the Bulgarian community contributed to the preparation of the stand and the dishes on offer. Special thanks go to Natalia Sashkova and Vesela Ivanova for their valuable contributions to the successful presentation.
