The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Pretoria celebrated 24 May – the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education, Culture and Slavonic Literature – together with members of the Bulgarian community in South Africa.
The event highlighted the importance of the Bulgarian language, script and cultural identity as a spiritual bond connecting Bulgarians around the world. It was emphasised that, even far from Bulgaria, the Bulgarian spirit continues to thrive through language, traditions and community ties.
As part of the festive programme, children recited poems and performed musical pieces dedicated to the occasion. The celebration took place in a warm and festive atmosphere, bringing together members of the Bulgarian community, friends of Bulgaria and guests of the Embassy.
