The Fourth Meeting of the Political Directors of the South‑East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), held under the Sofia Chairmanship‑in‑Office

15 May 2026 Events and Discussions

On 11 - 12 May 2026, in Pravets, under the Sofia Chairmanship‑in‑Office of the South‑East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), the fourth meeting in the Political Directors format was held.

In accordance with the agenda, the participants agreed on the final text of the Sofia Declaration (SEECP Summit Declaration), which is to be endorsed at the Meeting of the Heads of State and Government on 10 June 2026 in Sofia.

The Declaration is an integral part of the ceremony marking the conclusion of each SEECP Chairmanship‑in‑Office. Its adoption in Sofia will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Process and will reflect the shared commitment of the region’s economies to strengthening good‑neighbourly relations, regional connectivity, security, economic cooperation, and the European perspective of the participants.

During the discussions, the participants once again underscored the significance of the SEECP as the leading political format for regional dialogue and cooperation, as well as the need to enhance coordination on key issues of common interest in the context of contemporary geopolitical challenges.

On the Bulgarian side, the meeting was attended by Mr. Momchil Raychevski, Director of the South‑East Europe Directorate; Mr. Ivaylo Yordanov, Head of the Regional Cooperation Department; Ms. Rositsa Stoeva, Ambassador at Large; as well as other colleagues from the Regional Cooperation Department.
