The Mission Gallery, part of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presents the solo exhibition "FERRUM" by sculptor Yane Gadjev. The exhibition features iron objects created specifically for this show, through which the artist explores the sculptural potential of the metal and the interplay between material, form, and space.

In these works, iron reveals an unexpected artistic expressiveness. Volume and its subtraction, density and empty space, weight and apparent lightness intertwine to form sculptures that transcend traditional perceptions of this industrial material. The cold rigidity of the metal is transformed into fluid, elongated silhouettes with pointed tips and open volumes—evoking both architectural structures and forms found in the natural world.

Stripped of specific figurativeness or representational subject matter, the objects take on the character of universal signs, where the archetypal meets the contemporary, and the monumental meets the intimate. Situated on the boundary between the industrial and the biomorphic, these works evoke both a sense of raw material energy and the fragile power of life. Associations with a seed pod or a sprouting seed point toward themes of potential, development, and the continuous transformation of matter.

In the "FERRUM" series, Yane Gadjev explores the capacity of iron to break free from its inherent weight and industrial definition. Through sculptural transformation, strength and delicacy cease to be opposites; the forms unfold somewhere between the archaic and the futuristic, between a closed, tangible materiality and a multitude of potential interpretations. In this way, the exhibition raises questions about the primordial architecture of nature and the ability of sculpture to transmute the physical properties of a material into vehicles of meaning.

The presentation of "FERRUM" at the "Misiyata" (The Mission) Gallery is part of an award from the State Cultural Institute, granted to Yane Gadjev in 2025 for his participation in the National "Sculpture" Exhibition. The project is realized with the financial support of the Sofia Municipality under the "Young Artist" program.
